The Elizabeth Police Department was created in the 19th Century shortly after the incorporation of the Village of Elizabeth.  The first recorded Constable was Richar Gott who served as Street Commissioner and Constable after appointment on May 17, 1880.  Later the the position of Town Constable became the Village Marshall.  The Elizabeth Police Department has evolved into a 21st century law enforcement agency with a focus on service and public safety.  All officers are Certified as Peace Officers by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

The officers of the Elizabeth Police Department are:

Scott Toot Chief of Police
Chief Toot has served as the Chief of Police since 2001 and began his law enforcement career in 1990.   The Chief of Police is responsible for the operation of the Police Department.

Sgt. Gerald Fluhr
Sergeant Fluhr has served the village as a Police Officer since 2001 and started in law enforcement in 1987.

Detective Tim Schaffer
Detective Schaffer has served the village as a Police Officer since 2003 and started in law enforcement in 1984.  He assists in criminal investigations and interviews.  

Officer Jody Landwer
Officer Landwer has served the village as a Police Officer since 2010.  Officer Landwer started in law enforcement in 1999 and serves as Elizabeth's member of the Jo Daviess County Critical Incident Response Team.

Officer Matt Judges
Officer Judges has served the village as a Police Officer since 2010.

Officer Klaus Kretschmer
Officer Kretschmer has served the village as a Police Officer since 2012.  He began his law enforcement career in 2009.

Officer Matt Grube
Officer Grube has served the village as a Police Officer since 2012.

Officer Steve Allendorf
Officer Allendorf has served the village as a Police Officer since 2014.  He began his law enforcement career in 1975 and served as Jo Daviess County Sheriff from 1986 until 2005.  

Officer John Brinkmeier
Officer Brinkmeier has served the village as a Police Officer since 2014.  He began his law enforcement career in 1986.

The Elizabeth Police Department responds to calls 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.  Office hours are Monday-Friday 9 AM - 5 PM.  Chief Toot is available to meet with citizens at any time regarding the Elizabeth Police Department.
